About

Welcome to AECURN Queensland – the Australasian Early Career Urban Research Network. We are a network of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and PhD Researchers in urban research disciplines.

AECURN was established in late 2013 following the very first urban research PhD event; the two-day State of Australian Cities PhD Symposium. Building on the energy and enthusiasm mobilised out of the Symposium, by mid-2014 AECURN had grown to a network of 100-plus ECR and PhD urban researchers from across Australia and New Zealand.

We currently serve more than 350 plus members in all States of Australia and the ACT, in New Zealand, and in Algeria, China, Indonesia, Norway, Pakistan, Singapore, Sweden, and Turkey. We host state-based social, professional and academic events to support ECRs to join forces in our local chapters across Australia and New Zealand.

We organise the State of Australian Cities Phd and ECR Symposia – held prior to the biennial Main Conference – along with representing the voice of ECRs on the ACRN (Australian Cities Research Network) and on the SOAC Conference Local Organising Committee.

If you would like to get more actively involved – supporting the Board, hosting an event or activity in your state and so on – please email us at aecurnqld@gmail.com and let us know how we can assist.
